Should of, could of, would of — forget it!
My friend LaLa shared this beautiful quote with us during our book club for FINDING YOUR OWN NORTH STAR by Martha Beck. I gave everyone a copy of the book for Christmas and we’ve been meeting every two weeks to discuss as we each chart a new course in our lives. I’m constantly amazed when I sit in this room filled with talented, beautiful and giving women how many of us still beat ourselves up about the past — I should of, could of, would of…well it’s time to forget it, forgive ourselves, move on from the past and embrace the future. Obviously, I made choices in my youth that I would never make now 20 or 30 years later. Eli reminded us that we made the best choices at the time, given the life experience we had. I am writing a beautiful story every day that’s filled with love, family, friends and I’m so thankful for the opportunity. It may not be perfect, but it’s mine.
